The Gifted One
Clifford Alex Charles aka Alabama a nick name given to him upon his return to Guyana because of his American accent hails from the town of Beterverwating (BV) and currently resides in Annandale.
Made his name on the Guyana music scene with is tantalizing hit single ‘Dem Don’t Care’ The song was so well received that his then manager it to VP records and it was place on on of their albums.
Born to Joycelyn Watson and Clayton Charles on January 8 th, 1980, migrated to the United States and began singing at the tender age of eight to the songs written by his father, At age thirteen formed a Hip Hop group with a few friends, however, due to unforeseeable circumstances he had to returned to Guyana, but his love for music did not die.
Guyana being a Caribbean country got him into the Caribbean vibe hence the beginning of his reggae music career,. To date he has recorded several songs including ‘Cool It Down’ and ‘Need It So’
Alabama describes his style of singing as culture reggae with a scent of hip hop and R&B flavour. His musical aim is geared towards providing youths with an inspirational message that can in some way enable them to move forward in a positive direction.
Alabama has recently joined the Vizion Sounds Family who is also home to Guyana’s number one recording reggae group First Born.
